Our multidisciplinary service offering includes the traditional services of scaffolding, rope access, insulation, protective coatings & blasting and passive fire protection as well as specialist services such as refractory, asbestos management, and advanced industrial cleaning and vaccumation of heat exchangers, pipes, tanks and vessels using high pressure water and chemicals.

The Project

The BHP operated Olympic Dam mine is located 560kms north of Adelaide and is one of the world’s largest and most diverse ore bodies, including copper, gold, uranium and silver. Olympic Dam operates a fully integrated processing facility from ore to metal. Cape Australia provides access support which services ongoing maintenance and planned shutdowns.

The Role and Requirements

We are seeking an IRATA qualified Level 3 Rope Access Technician with painting and blasting experience to join our rope access team on-site that service the ongoing maintenance requirements.

This position is offered on a 13 day on, 8 day off roster. Flights are provided from any capital city in Australia with accommodation at the purpose-built camp.

To be considered you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Current Level 3 IRATA qualification
  • Relevant trade qualification and minimum of 3-5 years’ credible experience of industrial scale Painting and Blasting
  • You'll be technically suitable to carry out the below tasks;
  • Abrasive blasting – White Blast
  • Proven ability to use various pneumatic tools in the mechanical preparation of both carbon and stainless-steel surfaces
  • Proven ability to apply coatings with both brush and roller
  • Ability to apply coatings using conventional & airless spraying
  • Be conversant in the mixing and application various coating systems
  • Credible experience in the application of 2PAC is essential
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Hold valid Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry tickets (issued within 4 years)
  • Hold a nationally accredited OHS Card (White/Blue Card)
  • Ability to pass a project specific pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol screen
