The Joint Venture

UGL | Cape have been awarded a contract for services on the Woodside operated Karratha Gas Plant Life Extension Program. Services to be provided include the detailed planning and execution of access, fire protection application, blasting and painting, cladding and insulation, mechanical, pipe-spool equipment replacement and electrical services.



The Project

Located 1,260 kilometres north of Perth, Western Australia and covering approximately 200 hectares, the Karratha Gas Plant includes five LNG processing trains, two domestic gas trains, six condensate stabilisation units, three LPG fractionation units as well as storage and loading facilities for LNG, LPG and condensate. The plant has the capacity to produce 12,000 tonnes of domestic gas per day.



The Role and Requirements

Cape Australia is currently seeking experienced and qualified Level 3 Rope Access Technicians preferably with Industrial Painting, Insulation or Rigging experience for upcoming work at Woodside’s Karratha Gas Plant.

This position is ongoing, working either a 19 & 9 Roster in a Fly in / Fly out capacity from Perth, WA with accommodation provided at a purpose-built camp or full time on a 5 & 2 Roster for Karratha local candidates. You will be working as part of a team, working on a project, where the highest levels of safety are required.



To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Rope Access Technician
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience; preferably within the Oil & Gas industry (live plant) would be highly desirable
  • Current IRATA Qualification – Level 3
  • Current Nationally Recognised High Risk Work Licence – Advanced Rigging
  • Technically suitable to carry out the below tasks would be highly desirable;
  • Be conversant in the mixing and application various coating systems
  • Proven ability to apply coatings with both brush and roller
  • Proven ability to use various pneumatic tools in the mechanical preparation of both carbon and stainless-steel surfaces
  • Carry out Stopaq application
  • Hold a nationally accredited OHS card (White/Blue card)
  • The ability to follow procedures and work in a safety conscious manner is essential
  • You will be required to complete and pass a project specific pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol screen
  • A flexible and adaptable attitude is a must; working with multi disciplines in a high pressure shutdown environment on Karratha Gas Plant
